When you are spending a lot of your hard earned cash on an extension, picking a builder to trust is hard to find. I found Kenny and Jim called a spade a spade, but they were excellent builders with a fantastic team around them. Their sons Richard and Grieg have learned a lot from their fathers with quality work throughout. They use a roofer/roughcaster called Darren, and his work was exceptional and is probably one of the best quality tradesmen I have ever come across.

My build was large, removing the full corner of the building, with a lot of complex steel work in the extension; but whatever they come up against was fixed to a very high standard. They also completed my composite deck and mono-blocking.

I was really worried about my build and paying money out, getting left in the lurch, and having to pay out to get another builder in. I shouldn’t of worried, they took a deposit and only asked for payments after they did stages of the work, I felt that this showed great trust.

Kenny and his team have just completed my attic conversion. He told me it would be done in 6 weeks and it was! Excellent work from start to finish. Every text message was answered immediately and communication was amazing. Having had builders in the year before, I was reluctant to start again but I was so pleased with how the build progressed.

As a trades person myself it can be difficult to find people you trust to do a good job but Kenny and his team pulled out all the stops on my mum’s extension and internal refurb.
I can’t recommend them highly enough for any building work you need!

We hired MacCallum Builders to carry out a complex extension to our existing basement and the guys did a fantastic job. Every member of the team was polite and knowledgeable.

Jim and Kenny were there when they said they would be and kept us up to date and involved at every step. Even helped us make decisions and changes that would work better in the long run.

We encountered a few problems during the work and they were always on hand to discuss and came up with a suitable resolution every time without compromising on the quality of work.

We were so happy with the work that they had carried out on the original job that we also asked them to do extras which were finished to the same high standard and at a reasonable price.

We both would recommend MacCallum Builders to friends and family.

Kenny and his team did a fantastic job – I am very happy with their work. The build was particularly difficult as we were building during lockdown and we were living in the house. At the start, Kenny kept in contact so we could find a way for the build to continue as it was essential work. All the way through, Kenny raised each issue with me, and provided solutions, so we had a way forward that allowed the build to continue. Along the way, the suggestions from Kenny and his team were very helpful, and I did take most of them on – all of which I was very happy with once I saw the finish. The whole team was great to have on site – which was all the more important as we were living in the house during the build. The team listened when I raised things, and raised things when they saw a different or better way of doing things, and came up with options – again I mainly went with their suggestions as these were the best approach. The quality of the build is really good, finished to a high standard, and the completed build has turned out better than had pictured it to be. I am a very happy customer, and would recommend Kenny and his team – I would definitely use them again.

Fantastic builders!! Can’t praise them highly enough, fast, efficient, excellent workmanship and great communicators. It really was a pleasure having them build for us. Truly 10/10.

Concrete Floor

Kenny phoned me within an hour of my advert, came out for a site visit, he knew his stuff and what was needed. Kenny gave me an acceptable quote and fitted my job into his busy schedule. Arrived on site exactly on the time he gave me with his team and completed the job efficiently and also tidied up when finished.

Survey inspection holes

Needed our work done in a very tight timeline, Kenny was very helpful and carried out the work quickly and efficiently. Very knowledgeable about our property type, would definitely not hesitate to recommend him.

Kenny came to landscape our garden, which involved building a wall, decking a large area and building a fence around the boundary. The standard of work throughout the build has been excellent , they turned up early every day , completed the work within a week , the cost for the quality workmanship was excellent value ! I would highly recommend McCallum builders and have actually decided to use them to landscape the front garden.

Ken and his team have been very helpful in carrying out the job in the way it has been presented to him the project is not complete yet but i would have no hesitation in recommending Ken and his team for any building work required,they have turned up at the job when promised and tidied up afterwards,and has stuck to the price agreed

These guys were really good to deal with. Although we didn’t end up using them (for reasons totally unrelated to their expertise/reliability/value for money – problems at our end, totally outwith their control), they were extremely professional, punctual, easy to interact with and incredibly helpful, and they spotted issues in the drawings which could have caused problems down the line. I would have been happy to use them, had the project gone ahead as planned, and I think others should give them a go.
